Marmol&FA

Julio anaya

We were always very clear in our minds that the first edition of Mármol&Fa had to have the stamp of Julio Anaya. A friend. A great friend. His work always challenges art history. His trompe l’oeils establish trans-historical dialogues with the works of past masters.

Irreverent in practice yet respectful in technique, Julio’s works examine ideas related to authorship, authenticity and ownership, as well as to the remits of the institutions that govern the worlds of historical and contemporary art, such as conservation and transmission.

I understand a work of art as an artifact that addresses the viewer with the purpose of unsettling them.
